What is the Fastest Way to Clean the Kitchen?
Posted on Sunday 22 January 2023
The kitchen is a busy place. Hungry bellies rumble, meals get cooked and dishes pile up every day. It can seem like a never ending cycle of cooking and washing up. After everyone is fed, cleaning the kitchen is probably the last thing you want to do!
The good news is that there are ways to get the kitchen sparkling again that don’t take up too much time. Plus, you can save money in the process. Let’s take a look at a few pro kitchen cleaning hacks that can be done in a jiffy, so you can go put your feet up.
Clean the Oven While Sleeping
Cleaning crusty food particles out of the oven is one of the worst kitchen cleaning jobs! Save time by making your own homemade solution in a spray bottle containing ½ cup water, ½ cup baking soda and ½ cup white wine vinegar. Remove the grates and spray the solution around the inside of the oven (avoiding the heating elements). Close the door and leave it overnight. Wipe down with soapy water in the morning and crusted food bits will fall away!
Vacuum Kitchen Cabinets
Another time saving kitchen cleaning hack is to vacuum out your storage cabinets. Picking up crumbs by hand can take ages and many bits will get sprayed around the kitchen, causing more mess. Suck up crumbs with your vacuum in seconds and save yourself a headache.
Steam Clean the Microwave
Old food particles often get stuck around the inside of a microwave and can be tough to remove. Make the process easier by steam cleaning your microwave first. Add slices of lemon to water in a microwave bowl and pop it inside for two minutes. Let the steam that’s created sit inside the microwave for two more minutes to loosen grime. Use a clean sponge to wipe down microwave walls.
Use Dishwasher Tablets to Deodorise Drains
Before you run to the nearest store to buy a drain deoderiser, try this easy home remedy. If you notice a nasty funk coming from your sink, try putting a dishwasher tablet over the plughole and pour boiling water over it. The tablet will dissolve, helping to disperse any lodged rotten food debris and the sink will smell fresh.
Clean Glass Surfaces with Cold Tea
The tannins found in tea are also actually helpful at removing smudges from glass surfaces. Let your leftover black tea cool down and add it to a spray bottle. Spray it over a glass surface such as the microwave door and wipe away with newspaper for a streak free shine.
